Siegfried Rundel’s collection “27 Lieder zur Weihnachtszeit“ (27 Christmas Carols) is a regular feature in the repertoire of wind bands and wind ensembles – thanks to its practical concept and a setting that allows sonorous performances for any instrumentation. With his broad knowhow and his wealth of experience, Siegfried Rundel knew more than most arrangers how to write for a flexible instrumentation to make it sound good anytime and anywhere; whether done by amateur or professional musicians or small groups to a big wind band. The range of use is as versatile as options of instrumentation: Christmas fairs, concerts during Christmas time, in church or when making music at home – the songs suit any Christmas occasion and unfold their reflective and festive appeal everywhere. The CD “Bethlehem” (CD088) offers a selection of the collection “27 Lieder zur Weihnachtszeit”. To show the effective concept and the possibilities of instrumentation and performance several stanzas are played by woodwind players only, brass players only or tutti (Concert Band).
