As a composer Strauss sr. is probably less famous as his son Johann Strauss jr.(1825 – 1899) but his Radeztky March is still one of the most popular pieces in classical music: Every New Year’s Day it is the first encore in the New Year’s Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in the Golden Hall of Die Musikverein.
