Jaroslav Zeman had been a member of Czechoslovak military music. There, he passed the mandatory training, and later conducted some of his country’s finest bands. He eventually was appointed director of the Conservatory for Military Music in Roudince nad Labem, and in that capacity he was responsible for the musical training of the army. Jaroslav Zeman retired from the army and has currently turned to the vast field of composing and arranging. He is internationally regarded as an expert for “Czech music” and has added numerous polkas, waltzes and marches of quality to this particular repertory.
The best known works of Jaroslav Zeman are his galop “Wirbelwind” (“Whirlwind”) and his fantastid polka “Prager Gassen” (“The Lanes of Prague”). “Louisa-Polka” is a wonderful new piece of his typical style.
