However: During the many years of his career as a publisher, Siegfried Rundel wrote numerous marches of easy and medium difficulty, which today belong to the respective standard repertory in Central Europe. This fact surely stands for the quality and attractiveness of such compositions. “Saluto Lugano” belongs to the same category. In addition, its title tells of the composer’s inclination to the Ticino canton of Switzerland. His love for that area goes back to the days of his youth, and this march therefore is kind of an overdue declaration of love.
