Already at the age of 14, Antonín Zvácek enlisted in the band of the Austro-Hungarian Infantry Regiment No. 6 in Olomouc. In 1928 he left Czechoslovakia which had become an independent state in the wake of World War I and joined the Romanian band service in Bucharest. He returned to Brno in 1931 and became a member of the local State Police Band. Zvácek also spent the following years in the Moravian capital as musician and band conductor. After World War II he was appointed director of the Olomouc City Band.
His sparkling march Regimentsparade (Regimental Review) stands out as the work of a composer with military background. As a composer, he was amiably referred to as ”King of the Moravian Polka”.
