Beschrijving
The efforts of the renowned instrument maker Adolph Saxe contributed immensely to the enhancement of the sonorous homogeneity of the wind band. This essentially goes back to two families of instruments which he made, namely the saxophones and the saxhorns. While the saxhorns may not be found in all countries, musical life would not be what it is today without saxophones that date back to the middle of the 19th century. They do not only show up in bands, but are also played in symphony orchestras, in show bands, in jazz and pop music.
When the great bands of the Big Band Era came into existence, the use of saxophones in them consisting of two alto, two tenor, and one baritone saxophones proved to be an ideal group for that type of band. SAXOPHONING is a fascinating swing piece by Luigi di Ghisallo which presents the saxophone section in a succinct and exemplary way.
