The Lion Sleeps Tonight is gebaseerd op de in 1939 geschreven Afrikaanse melodie ‘Mbube’. Deze melodie werd in vele uitvoeringen en variaties populair in Europa, o.a. in de bekende musical ‘Lion King’. In voorliggend arrangement is aan het eind een grapje verwerkt: De muzikanten verlaten een voor een het podium, alleen de bassist blijft achter, zich afvragend waar de rest is gebleven……
