Carmen’ is probably the most famous opera in the whole opera-repertoire, although its premiere in 1875 was a great disappointment. The aria ‘La fleur que tu m’avais jetée’, mostly named ‘flowersong’ is sung by Don Jose in the second act as he tells Carmen of his longing for her during his imprisonment.
