Pablo de Sarasate was not only a great violinplayer but a composer as well and because of that it´s quite logic that the violin plays an important role in his work. The ‘Carmen Fantasy’, together with ‘Zigeunerweisen’, is probably his best known piece. In this composition de Sarasate uses the material of Bizet’s Carmen in an excellent way.
