The aria ‘Ah prigioniero io sono’ (‘I am a prisoner’) in Verdi’s opera ‘Nabucco’ is sung in the fourth and last act: Nabucco turns to the God of the Hebrews and promises to convert himself and by that hopes to regain his freedom. His prayer is answered and at last his servant Abdallo liberates him.
